Recent changes in attitudes towards sex roles lead to the hypothesis that sex differences in problem-solving performance favoring males, which have been found in the past, should be reduced in younger subjects. Three experiments were performed to test this hypothesis by comparing the problemsolving performance of males and females at different age levels. The results showed the importance of sex, age, and occupational matching in relation to sex differences in problem solving.
