This study assessed to what extent social psychology is truly an interdisciplinary cross of psychology and sociology. A selected sample of social psychologists provided information as to topics researched, methods used, textbooks used, journals read and published in, social psychologists having made the greatest contri- butions and training. Little overlap existed with regard to such data between the groups of sociological and psychological social psychologists. Those who called themseves both psychological and sociological social psychologists proved to be more interdiscipli- nary. Some implications of these findings were discussed.
