Subjects with high or low scores on Rotter's Social Reaction Inventory were required to solve word and nonsense anagrams. A significant interaction was found between the locus of control and the two types of anagrams, thus confirming the hypothesis that locus of control measures an individual's percep tion of the cohesiveness of the environment. In addition, word anagrams were found to be more difficult tn solve than nonsense anagrams.
