Abstract
The purpose of this special symposium is to showcase the area of personality and emotion and to give Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin readers some sense of the breadth of issues in this area. Three broad themes organize this collection of articles: (a) a concern with taxonomy, definition, categorizations, and assessment of major theoretical constructs; (b) an approach to testing theories of emotion by employing individual differences; and (c) the modification or refocusing of traditional personality theories by incorporating modern knowledge of emotion.
