Abstract
In previous publications on altered states of consciousness, I presented a model originally constructed by Erika Bourguignon, modified by E. Mansell Pattison, and further adapted by myself to two different biblical research projects (1955: 52; 1993: 241). My explanation of how I appropriated the model was succinct and left many questions unanswered. In this article, I explain how Bourguignon designed the model, how Pattison sought to use it, and how I began and continue the process of "kitbashing" it into a form more suited to biblical research.
