The presence of theology in Qoholeth (Ecclesiastes) has long been disputed. The book's frequent use of hebel (“vanity” or “vapor”) has discouraged theological analysis. This essay argues for a theology of reverence in Qoholeth that includes both the troublesome refrain and omission of the divine name.
