Erectile dysfunction, or impotence, is seen in approxi mately 50% of the male diabetic population in the United States. Erectile dysfunction is dependent upon an intricate interaction of psychologic, vascular, hormonal, and neurologic factors. This paper reviews the evaluation of organic impotence in the male diabetic patient and describes several treatments including pharmacologic modalities and surgical procedures.
