Abstract
Although increasing emphasis has been placed on multidisci plinary teams, there is a signifi cant discrepancy between dia betes nurse educators' per ceptions of actual and ideal multidisciplinary participation in diabetes patient education (DPE). Twenty-six diabetes nurse educators rated frequencies of ideal and actual participation from 1 (never) to 5 (always). The mean ideal ratings for physicians, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and nurses were greater than 4.0, but only nurses and dietitians received comparable actual participation ratings.
