The treatment of diabetes mellitus is extending the life expectancy and improving the lives of people with this condition. However, since complications are more common as the duration of diabetes increases, more people are experiencing severe complications of diabetes, including visual impairment. This article discusses the type of visual impairment caused by diabetes and the unique problems that people with diabetes and visual impairment face.
