Abstract
This study analyzed the spelling and braille orthographic errors found in braille writing samples of students in both residential and local day school programs who were at or near 9, 13, and 17 years old. True spelling errors were most prevalent for all age groups, and errors in braille orthography persisted across age groups. Nevertheless, the results from a larger study (of which this analysis is a part) indicated that subjects who were blind demonstrated skills comparable to their sighted peers in the content and quality of their writing.
