In the traditional model of referral for rehabilitation services in Israel, blind and visually impaired persons often face a long time lag between the onset of visual impairment and the start of rehabilitation because of administrative delays. This article contrasts the traditional model with a new model—the rehabilitation information station—that links administrative, social, medical, and functional rehabilitation and results in the faster receipt of services.
