Abstract
Eleven visually impaired college students helped develop and assess audio scripts that would enable them to use tactile diagrams independently as an alternative to the microscope in an introductory biology course. The factors that served as guidelines for writing these scripts will be helpful when writing scripts that accompany tactile diagrams used in other fields.
