Abstract
The Administration of the Utah School for the Blind is of the opinion that this comprehensive Evaluation, Remediation, and Probation Procedure will be effective in improving educator performance. If it is not successful in improving educator performance, it does establish the documented evidence necessary for termination. It does provide the opportunity and evidence for the administration's, fellow educators’, and the professional association's desire to offer substantial help to an educator who has been evaluated as performing unsatisfactorily.
In most cases where remediation has been used by school districts, educators have improved their performance as a result of the procedure. In some cases where educators have not improved their performance they have recognized that sufficient documented evidence existed for their termination. Most have resigned, but a few have necessitated termination. Where necessary, the Remediation Procedure assisted the termination action in a very supportive manner.
