Gottesman conducted a study of stage development of cognitive processes in blind and sighted children, utilizing the concepts and research techniques of Jean Piaget. The experiments concentrate on haptic perception as a means towards recognizing objects and gaining the concept of mass conservation. Criteria for the careful selection of subjects are delineated, and testing procedures described. Results are expressed in charts of mean score percentages.
