Abstract
To increase the professionalism of mobility instructors and to improve practice, the following areas need to be considered and discussed more fully than they have in the past: a forum for dialogue and dissemination of information, a central resource for information, public relations materials explaining cane mobility, a means of identifying the professional, liability of the instructor, greater attention to clients’ individual differences and keeping practice up to date, interpersonal aspects of instruction, and professional responsibility.
