Abstract
The federal government, through the Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology encourages the production and use of alternative energies and efficiency in the use of all energies: In transportation this involves efficiency and emission control for gas and alcohol fuels; the use of hydrogen, fuel cells and batteries. Development of bio-energy deals with handling combustion and chemical conversion. There are also active programmes in the renewable energies-solar, photovoltaic, wind and hydro.
