As production from Gippsland Basin peaks: interest in oil and gas supplies have shifted elsewhere. panicuarly offshore wherethere have been significant discoveries in the Tinor Seaand North west self area. Estimates of Australian reserves arecrude oil 2.4 b.b..condensate 0.5 b.b. and natural gas 23 tcf. There is considerable potential for increase in these reserves because exploration activity has not yet been extensive.
