Abstract
The Newcastle Renewable Energy Resource Study is one of a series of renewable energy planning studies carried out with the support of the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). This project, which was managed by the Energy Technology Support Unit on behalf of the DTI, is the first urban study in a series. The main effort in this study was directed at the renewable energy technologies which were of prime interest to the City of Newcastle upon Tyne: passive solar, active solar and photovoltaics. The work also covered secondary areas such as refuse and biomass, wind energy, hydroelectric power and geothermal energy.
