A procedure is set out for calculating the area of solar collectors required to provide an optimum contribution to the heating of indoor swimming pools. The procedure draws on the recent appearance of International Organisartion for Standardisation Technical Report TR 12586, taken together with the British Standard Code of Prartice BS 6785. It is hoped that a procedure referenced to public documentation might displace some of the empiricism that has had to be employed in collector sizing hitherto.
