Thermoeconomics, which is a blend of thermodynamic and economic analysis, can be used to determine life-cycle equipment costs. This paper deals with the application of thermoeconomic theory to absorption chillers. Both initial and operating costs are considered. The best chiller selections for specific operating conditions are identified.
