An energy, monetary and environmental cost analysis of low-emissivty (low- e) coatings on double-glazed window designs is presented. The energy associated with the manufacture and use of windows over their life cycle, and the resulting carbon dioxide, sulphur oxide and nitrous oxide emissions are evaluated. This note considers the additional cost of applying low-emissivity coatings, and evaluates the savings to the consumer.
