Abstract
This paper presents the results of a theoretical and experimental investigation into ice growth and energy removal rates from spherical ice storage capsules. Results from mathematical model of the freezing process of phase change material (PCM) water within spherical enclosures are compared with experimental results. From this model of simple elements, an encapsulated ice thermal storage unit model is developed. Predicted results from this model discussed are compared with experimental data.
