A new feed-forward control concept for a Dx air cooling plant has been developed by mathematical modelling. This control system manipulates the compressor speed using the evaporator superheat signal and additionally adjusts the refrigeration duty by metering the required quantity of refrigerant into the evaporator. The simulation results are promising and indicate that further research work should be undertaken on this new control system.
