Large-scale system simulations are efficient in solving large equation sets. However, where the simulation is restricted to a single component or subsystem; however, it is often more efficient to solve the equation set by a simple iteration. This paper describes the use of a successive approximation algorithm in solving equations for small-scale steady-state HVAC system simulations. The algorithm is shown to be robust and easily implemented.
