Abstract
Conductive polymer trace heaters are used extensively in the temperature maintenance of hot water service pipework downstream of the boiler. These trace heaters have the unique property of self-regulation; the heaters adjust their power output depending on ambient temperature. The heaters must operate reliably for an accepted lifetime. Design, performance, and accelerated life testing of self-regulating conductive polymer trace heaters are examined.
