The paper examines the calculation of U-values of uninsulated ground floors, and proposes a method based on the area and perimeter of the floor. The method gives values consistent with the procedure in the current CIBSE Guide and is a more flexible alternative, especially for irregular shapes of floor. It is proposed to incorporate this new basis in the revision of the material in Section A3 of the current Guide.
