The article describes the value and method of studies of energy usage in factories by means of case studies in milk processing, cheese manufacture, beer brewing and safety glass manufacture. The financial results of energy cost reduction surveys are emphasised. The technical aspects of the measures required to secure the savings in annual operating costs are described.
