Abstract
In the current economic climate, it is vital that any Local Authority energy monitoring system must be seen to pay its way. Bradford has developed a computerised audit to cover a significant proportion of its buildings. It is argued that its current system is cost-effective and probably of optimum size. Some of the problems in implementing and maintaining the system are discussed. Examples of how it has been used to save energy (and cost) are given.
