Abstract
No information appears to be published by building owners regarding energy consumption perhaps because it would be related to one particular building and therefore of little interest. There is no doubt however that their fuel costs for heating and hot water could be reduced considerably if some of the factors affecting consumption such as the overall plant efficiency and the shape of the building could be identified. The Anchor Housing Association has the largest stock of sheltered housing in the country and the paper shows how the fuel records of these buildings can be used to save energy, to demonstrate the effectiveness of various conservation measures and to illustrate the considerable variation in consumption between them.
