Abstract
The remodelling and modernisation of the 160-year old headquarters of Coutts Bank at Charing Cross, London, provided an opportunity for an original and creative air conditioning design to contribute to the high quality environment that was desired. Heat reclamation involving the use of a heat pump was an essential part of the design. A detailed description is given of the design considerations, system selection, equipment installed, and controls, all from the standpoint of energy conservation.
