Abstract
There is an increasing number of slotted building blocks offered by manufacturers for use in the insulating inner leaf of dwellings. There is, however, a certain amount of controversy surrounding the assessment of their thermal properties. This paper is an attempt to classify the model predictions for different types of slotted blocks. The model predictions are also compared with a value obtained by BRE (East Kilbride) during a theoretical study of the thermal resistance of slotted blocks. The method employed by BRE is a computer calculation based on a finite element analysis of the block.
