Abstract
The selection of gas-fired boiler plant for the central heating of commercial premises may be made in order to achieve certain standards within a given budget, and economy in fuel usage is only one factor in the process of selection. An attempt is made to analyse how the selection can be made to provide for high efficiency in boiler operation and in the assessment of the merits of various boiler designs. This is supported by experimental data obtained for some typical boilers and studies of building behaviour and load patterns.
