Abstract
Behavior problems exhibited by 173 children in grades 3 through 5 from single-child and multiple-child families were evaluated through the Conners Rating Scale. Significant differences in behavior problems are noted between children raised in singlevs multiple-child families and between boys and girls. In general, behavior problems were more prominent among children from single-child homes than those with siblings and among single boys than single girls. Moreover, the Conners Rating Scale shows promising levels of reliability and validity.
