School personnel must often deal with parents who appear angry and irrational. Dismissing them as such is easy. Listening to them and working together to improve the situation is harder, but potentially more rewarding. Before striving to rectify conflicts, school personnel must understand the real, often unstated problem, from the parents' perspective. This article helps school personnel identify what to listen for, and how to use the information gathered in problem solving.
