Abstract
Two separate studies investigated problems perceived by Iranian adolescents attending Tehran Junior High Schools. The first study was launched before the Islamic Revolution of Iran (1977), and the second took place eight years later (in 1985) after the revolution. The instrument used in both studies was the Mooney Problem Check List - Form J, Revised (1950), which was translated into Farsi (Persian) for administration to Iranian students. The aim of this paper is to present similarities and differences among both studies concerning students' problems, before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran. Generally speaking, students' problems show an increase after the revolution. Adolescents' problems have a negative but highly correlated relationship with family socioeconomic status, both before and after the revolution. When compared with girls' problems, boys' problems were higher before the revolution.
