Abstract
The aim of this paper is to identify potential sources of occupational stress for the educational psychologist working in education departments in the Republic of South Africa. An argument will be formulated based on existing research and reviews in the field, and will be linked to aspects of the school psychological services in the Republic based on experience and published papers in the area. A model of work-related stress will provide a framework to describe the potential sources of occupational stress. Finally, suggestions will be made for the empirical validation of these ideas in later research.
