Little is known about educational interventions that will promote early school achievement in American Indian children. This paper reviews what currently exists in the literature relative to enchancing early achievement, provides instances of effective strategies employed with the Ute Indian tribe of Northeastern Utah, and suggests areas in need of additional study and research.
