Abstract
Educators throughout the world are concerned about meeting the educational needs of the communities they serve. Frequently, however, not enough is known about parental attitudes toward curriculum, course offerings and the need for psychological services. Questions such as 'What do parents expect of schools?', 'Which course offerings are important?' and 'Are the schools doing what the children's parents want them to do?' are important in all times and places. This study investigated those issues in Iran in the summer of 1978. The purpose of the study was to determine Iranian parents' and Iranian educators' perceptions of whether the schools should be teaching only basic skills, or whether they have a role in fostering creativity and psychological guidance.
