Abstract
This paper addresses the misuse of psychological tests and in particular intelligence tests in the Third World. The author's observations are based on his experiences in Turkey. During the past ten years he has worked both in a clinical setting administering tests and in a university setting giving a course in psychological testing. He has also developed and standardized (though with subsequent regret) the first intelligence test in Turkey. In discussing the misuse of tests I feel that the present situation in Turkey is a particularly good case in point as what is happening will most probably be repeated in less developed nations than Turkey.
