The author gives a fascinating and informative description of a classroom intervention programme in, quoting her final comments, "a context of serious deprivation, financial stringency, and other troubles. It is hoped the re sults... might be encouraging to all ... who have an interest in children's welfare and a belief that it may be advanced if the will and the energy are there."
