The author of the following two articles is concerned to explore the role of visual perception in specific learning abilities and disabilities. In the first article he describes the design of his own instrument for diagnosing visual perception in children. He then goes on in the second to outline an experi ment he carried out using the instrument to demonstrate the existence of a strong relationship between visual perception and mathematical ability.
