An adaptive controller is presented for achieving deadbeat response in instrument servos with slowly time-varying parameters. Simulation and experimental results are presented. The controller is realised using a microcomputer. The controller is effective also when the servo contains small amounts of backlash and deadzone. Several versions of the control algorithm are described.
