Abstract
To test robot position and path accuracy and repeatability, an optical system was developed to measure positional accuracies based on a position-sensitive detector. The paper shows how the accuracy of a system using the PSD device may be improved significantly through using computer based accuracy enhancement techniques. Results of measurements carried out on robots are presented. The success of the system suggests possible application in other areas requiring accurate position location.
