Abstract
Productivity has become a central performance indicator in many enterprises. It is used to assess the technical performance ofproduction units, the contribution of the different employee groups to the enterprise, the capital utilisation and the overall competitiveness of organisations.
There is a long tradition in the economics discipline of studying productivity and the factors that contributed to it, As technologists we can learn much from this experience, and the Management Systems Group commissioned a leading authority to provide this overview.
