Abstract
The control of a gas-turbine powered controllable-pitch propeller ship propulsion plant, of the type found in modern warships is considered. The existing control philosophy is examined, and the development of a gain-scheduled multivariable control system, suitable for implementation in a distributed computer control system, is presented. Some typical non-linear simulation results are presented and a number of potential problem areas of the proposed control system are outlined.
