Abstract
The general principle of operation of the electromagnetic float-flowmeter is briefly outlined. Relations between the magnetic, hydrodynamic and gravitational forces acting on the float and the geometric, fluid-flow and electric parameters are presented. They are derived theoretically or determined as empirical relations generalising the results of experimental investigations. By proper normalisation the graphic representations of most important functions have been reduced to simple curves convenient for computations. On the basis of these relations the measuring range of the flowmeter as well as parameters of the coil and power supply have been evaluated. These data may be utilised for the purpose of optimum design and analysis of the influence of variations in the operating conditions.
