Abstract
This paper deals with the possibility of measuring the two separate reaction forces when a peg is inserted into a hole. It is assumed that means are available of measuring the resultant force exerted due to the reaction forces acting on the peg. The solution is intractable if the two forces are regarded as being totally unrelated to normal directions, but in a real situation this is not the case, and a solution that allows realistic estimates of the forces is proposed.
