The mechanical design of a servosystem is important to ensure the required accuracies. Compliance of the elastic structure of the mechanism may be compensated by resulting inputs to the servo position controllers. The effect of load compliance is examined for a single-degree-of-freedom system, and the results can be used to generate a full system model from which a suitable controller can be synthesised.
