Abstract
A design proposal for a large transport-aircraft control system for alleviating structural loads due to commanded manoeuvres or atmospheric turbulence is described. Because the order of the least-complex mathematical model representing aircraft dynamics is large, reduced-order feedback control is proposed. Flight integrity is secured by using a microprocessor for control-gain reconstitution in the event of controller failure, and, for the occurrence of sensor failure, to synthesise an observer to reconstruct missing feedback signals.
