The concept of diagram scale change is used to develop a set of design curves which are independent of gain and may be used for any type 1 system and for most type 0 systems. A method is presented which enables both the system gain and compensator time constants to be evaluated when both the type of response and a characteristic response time are specified. A method is also shown for designing parallel compensators for closed loop systems.
